Jazz dance today is a modern style evolved from Tap, Ballet, and Broadway style dance. Tap, being the original Jazz dance, continued to develop on its own.  Today, Jazz  incorporates a lot of traditional ballet technique, and has become the mainstay of Broadway shows and movies. Though Jazz dancing is fun, it does require the dancer to be physically strong, well practiced,  and have a mastery of at least basic ballet technique.

At Auburn Pointe our dancers are trained in Jazz and Modern techniques alongside their ballet training in order to provide a balanced approach to their conditioning.    Jazz and Modern dance work the opposing muscles, bringing balance and well rounded strengthening for the dancers.  This also aids in injury prevention, as well as exposing them to dance forms that are used in the professional industry.
